Director’s Statement
I have always been particularly interested in a strong feminine presence in film portraying women playing the type of characters usually played by men.
Therefore I decided to write and direct Robber Girls set in the 18th century, a period of time I have always held a great fascination with.
With an original film score by Dale Lafferty and Sorsha Willow's production design, both faithful to the period, Robber Girls tells the visually rich tale with a twist at the finale of two daring clever thieves Dorothy (Kerry Browne) and Beryl (Nicolette McKeown) who are determined not to live a life of obedient subservience that the divided and often corrupt society they inhabit expects of them.
