Director’s Statement
Directing 'Need' was an opportunity to really take control of an idea and exercise my creative juices. I love directing short films that give the viewer an opportunity to have their own interpretation of what the film was about and how the story might continue. This is a great way to engage with viewer's and i think we achieved that well with this short film.
The look of the film is reflective of where i live in Scotland, the look definitely adds a lot of emotion which is also key to the film. I talked at length with a local sound designer and decided it would be really interesting to build the sound around the film and moods. The links between sound and image are intrinsically linked and they work to great effect in this piece.
