Director’s Statement
I worked in social care for 22 years as a qualified registered manager, predominately on the front line of homelessness. Damned Dolls is drawn from my experiences, the people I met and the situations I faced on a daily basis during my career.
The journey into adulthood is difficult for most people, but much more so, for young people brought up in the care system. It is my hope that this film will capture the emotional intensity of their experience in a realistic and natural way.
It is my hope that Damned Dolls will enable and encourage healthy open discussion about very real current social issues that have already been identified as needing changed on many levels throughout society.
